BATTERY MAINTENANCE GUIDE

  • Establishing a topping up routine to ensure that the plates are never exposed. This ensures maximum battery performance.
  • Top up only with approved water/distilled water. This helps you to prolong battery life.
  • Never add acid to the battery if electrolyte is lost.
  • Keep battery top and container clean and dry. This prevents loss of current and helps to get maximum work load from the battery.
  • Keep battery vent plugs clean and free from deposits and debris.
  • Donot exhaust a battery by discharging below a established electrolyte specific gravity level of 1.150.
  • Specific gravity readings and level of electrolyte should be checked at least twice a month
  • Always put the battery on charge if the specific gravity of electrolyte is below than the normal reading of 1.220
  • Charge battery at the rate recommended by the manufacturer
  • Never leave your battery standing idle in a discharged condition. This may damage the plates and shorten the battery life.
  • Keep naked flame away from the battery during charging to avoid the risk of ignition of gases given off from the battery.
  • If a charged battery is not in use, store it in a cool and dry place, and recharge it at least once a month.
